Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused the previous Congress governments in the country of ignoring the contributions of the tribal leaders to the freedom movement to ensure that the credit remained reserved for only one party and one family.
He said this while addressing a function organised to mark the 150th birth anniversary of legendary freedom fighter Birsa Munda in the Jamui district of Bihar and alluded to the Congress and the Gandhi-Nehru family without naming them. Several tribal welfare projects worth over Rs 6,000 crore were launched on the occasion. “Tribals have preserved the country’s cultural heritage for millennia and it was thanks to them that Lord Rama evolved from a prince to a god,” he said.
