VC mails to KU’s research scholars after open house discussion

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Nainital:

Following the recent open house discussion with researchers held at Kumaun University, Nainital, the vice- chancellor, Diwan Singh Rawat issued an open email addressing all the researchers associated with the university. In this email, he provided information on the action taken on the issues raised by the researchers and a future plan of action.

According to KU sources, it came to light during an open house discussion that three university departments had not yet convened RDCs (Research Doctoral Committees) for scholars who completed their coursework in 2024. The VC took serious note of this and sought clarifications from the department heads concerned and directed them to  fix accountability for the delay.
The VC also clarified in his email that the RDC process is now being made time-bound and mandatory at the university. Under this, RDC will be held within a minimum of 45 days of the declaration of PhD coursework results. Upon scholarly demand, a workshop will soon be organised to provide training on various software used in research.
