A woman has filed a police complaint alleging that two men duped her of Rs 6.50 lakh in the name of selling a land plot. The complainant, Reshma, a resident of Barlowganj in Mussoorie, said that she wanted to buy land in Dehradun in 2023–24.
According to her complaint, the accused Keni Jain and Prince Bokadia approached her and claimed that they were the authorised sellers of a plot in Dharampur area. Reshma alleged that the accused showed her property number 185/162 and executed a sale agreement on February 8, 2024.
She claimed that she paid Rs five lakh and Rs 1.50 lakh in February 2024. However, later she found that the land had already been sold to someone else and the accused had no legal right to sell it. The complainant said that even after taking the money, the accused neither executed the sale deed nor returned her money. She alleged that when she asked for her money back, they kept delaying the matter with false promises. She also claimed that the accused abused her and threatened to kill her if she continued to demand the money.
Reshma said she had taken the money on loan and is still paying interest. Police officials said that the matter is under investigation.
