Two boys die after drowning in Gaula River in Haldwani

Two boys died after drowning in the Gaula River near Motahaldu area of Lalkuan tehsil in Haldwani, Nainital district. The incident took place when the two students, residents of Bakuliya village, went to bathe in the river to escape the heat. Their bodies were recovered about 14 hours later on Wednesday with the help of local divers.
According to the officials, Ankit Bhouryal (15) and Krish Danu (15) left home for the river on Tuesday around 5 PM. When they did not return by late evening, their families began searching for them. Local villagers joined the search throughout the night but the boys could not be found. Their clothes were reportedly found on the riverbank on Wednesday morning that raised suspicions among locals that the boys might have drowned.
The authorities called local divers from the village to commence the search operation. One body was recovered first and the second was found around 11 AM. As per local residents, Ankit was a student of Class IX and Krish was in Class X. Both were enrolled in a private school in Motahaldu. The deaths of the two boys have caused sorrow in the village.
