Uttarakhand Jal Sansthan (UJS) has received a total of 14,790 water supply-related complaints from April 1 to July 21 through the helpline or toll-free number issued for people across the State. The toll-free number 18001804100 or 1916 is available for any complaints or assistance. Residents contact these numbers to register their complaints which are then addressed by UJS.
Speaking of the status of the complaints reported so far this year, the secretary (Appraisal) of UJS, Maneesh Semwal said that the number of complaints generally go up during the summer season which is considered the peak period for water-related issues.
Of the 14,790 complaints received from April 1 to July 21, the maximum- 10791- related to stoppage of water supply while the minimum- 32- were about broken sewer chambers. The rest of the complaints pertained to pipeline leakage, sewer blockage and overflow.
Semwal informed that out of the total complaints received, 13,326 have been resolved by the officials concerned so far while the remaining 1,464 are expected to be redressed soon.
“As per our experiences, complaints tend to surge up in the summer months,” he said, adding that a centre has been set up in each division to facilitate timely resolution of issues.
“The minor issues are usually rectified on the same day of reporting, but the major ones take longer to resolve. We are, however, committed to addressing them at the earliest,” he said.
He urged the people across the State to contact the toll-free helpline for any assistance or complaints. “We are always on our toes to address your water supply-related problems,” he assured.
