Two burglary accused arrested with stolen jewellery

Doon Police have arrested two accused in a burglary case committed in the Doiwala area on Wednesday. The police recovered stolen jewellery worth about Rs nine lakh from the accused duo. The accused have been identified as Jachindra Nath and Guddu Nath. Both the accused are residents of Bhaniyawala area under Doiwala police station.
According to the police, the theft took place between January 10 and January 13. The complainant, Pawan Chand had gone to his village with his family during this period. Taking advantage of the locked house, thieves broke into it and stole cash and jewellery.
After receiving the complaint, Doiwala Police registered a case and started an investigation. A special police team was formed. The team had checked the crime spot and probed nearby CCTV cameras. Police had also activated their informer network to trace the accused.
Based on a tip-off, police stopped and checked suspects at Airport Tiraha, Jolly Grant, Dehradun. During the checking, two men were arrested. Police recovered all the stolen jewellery from their possession.
During questioning, the accused are said to have told police that they work as scrap dealers. They used to visit areas on the pretext of collecting scrap and would keep an eye on locked houses. After identifying such houses, they would commit the break-ins.
Police said that the accused were planning to sell the stolen jewellery when they were held. Further legal action is being taken in the case, police added.
