Two gas agencies checked in Dehradun amid concerns over supply issues

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE /Dehradun

A surprise inspection was conducted at Amardeep Gas Agency and Satyasheel Gas Agency on Saturday by city magistrate Pratyush Singh and sub divisional magistrate Harigiri to check the availability of gas cylinders and the distribution system.

During the inspection, officials checked the demand for gas, available stock and delivery system at the agencies. They also spoke with consumers who had come to collect gas cylinders and listened to their complaints. Some consumers said that delivery staff asked for the OTP on the phone. After sharing the OTP, they received a message showing gas delivery, but the cylinder was not actually delivered. Taking the complaints seriously, officials directed the supply inspector to register a case against the supervisor and delivery man responsible for the irregularities. Officials assured the public that there is enough LPG gas available in the district and people should not panic. They also advised consumers not to share their OTP on the phone and to give it only to the delivery man at the time of home delivery. Gas agencies were instructed to ensure proper home delivery and display information boards outside their offices to make consumers aware.

In a separate meeting, officials also reviewed complaints about a gas cylinder shortage in the canteens of government hospitals. Authorities said that hospitals such as Government Doon Medical College hospital, Gandhi Shatabdi Hospital and the district hospital have enough gas cylinders according to their monthly needs. The administration said there is no shortage and arrangements are running normally.
