One of the most striking features of the public meeting of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Dehradun was the participation of a large number of women. All the women present appeared enthusiastic about the Nari Shakti Vandan Act which seeks to provide 33 per cent reservation to women in Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabhas.
The chairwoman of the FICCI FLO, Uttarakhand chapter, Tripti Behl said that the act will help in political empowerment of the women of the country. In his address the PM emphasised that the government remains firmly committed to the safety, security and political participation of women. He said that a special discussion has been scheduled in Parliament from April 16 for the new act. The PM appealed to all the parties to support the amendment which ensures that the new law comes into effect from 2029.
