Two men arrested for shooting seasoned criminal on Laksar flyover

Haridwar police have arrested two accused in the Laksar flyover firing. The incident happened on Wednesday when police were taking notorious criminal Vinay Tyagi from Roorkee Jail to Laksar court for a hearing. The police recovered the weapons used in crime from the accused.
According to the police, the arrested accused have been identified as Sunny Yadav and Vinay. They had allegedly opened fire on the Laksar overbridge, targeting criminal Tyagi and spreading fear among the public. Tyagi from Meerut was seriously injured in the attack, having been hit by three bullets. He was first taken for treatment and later referred to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Rishikesh. Two police personnel also suffered minor injuries in the attack.
According to the police, the arrests were made from a sugarcane field in the forest area of Khanpur on Thursday. The operation was carried out under the leadership of superintendent of police (Rural) Shekhar Chandra Suyal. Police teams were carrying out raids after the incident to trace the accused.
Police also recovered the weapons used in the crime from the possession of the arrested accused. After the arrest, the police have started further legal proceedings in the case, officials said.
