Two men injured in encounter with Haridwar police

The police shot two men in an encounter early on Friday. The suspects were reportedly involved in a shooting in SIIDCUL late on Thursday in which several were reportedly injured. The Haridwar senior superintendent of police Pramendra Dobhal said that a violent altercation erupted between two groups consuming alcohol at Shivalik Nagar Chowk near SIIDCUL industrial area on Thursday. During the conflict, two men Ayush Tomar (28) and Kuldeep Bishnoi (24) and others, allegedly opened fire using country-made guns. In an attempt to save their lives, some people rushed into the premises of a factory. However, the accused chased them inside and continued firing, causing chaos within the factory. He informed that several people, including the factory supervisor, sustained injuries during the attack. Since Thursday night, police had been actively searching for the suspects. After 12 hours of continuous search efforts, the police attempted to stop three men on the motorcycle near Herbal Chowk. During their attempt to flee, they opened fire at the police. During the shootout, two accused got shot in the leg. Both suspects were taken to the hospital for medical treatment. Dobhal said the police recovered firearms from the suspects, linking them to the shooting that left multiple employees injured the previous night. They are in police custody and under interrogation. He said that one accomplice managed to escape and is still at large and will be nabbed soon.
