Tyuni drive: 4 sweet samples collected for quality testing

The Food Safety and Drug Administration department collected four samples of sweets from different sweet shops in Tyuni market, Chakrata, during an inspection on Monday. The samples were sent to a laboratory for testing as officials checked food outlets to ensure that consumers were getting safe and quality food.

The inspection was carried out under the directions of Dehradun district magistrate Ashish Chauhan and commissioner of Food Safety and Drug Administration Vinay Shankar Pandey. A team led by the assistant commissioner, Food Safety, Manish Sayana conducted the inspection.

The senior food safety officer, Vikasnagar, Sanjay Tiwari, inspected various food establishments in Tyuni market, located in the border area of the district. The officials checked the food businesses under the Food Safety and Standards Act.

Four sweet samples were collected from different shops on suspicion. The department later sent all the samples to a laboratory for detailed testing. Officials said further action will be taken according to the rules if any sample is found to be below the required food safety standards.

During the inspection, food business operators were also instructed to follow food safety regulations and maintain proper hygiene and quality standards.

The department said that the inspection was part of its regular drive to protect consumers from unsafe or poor-quality food products.
