The Uttarakhand Kranti Dal (UKD) has expelled party leader Ashutosh Negi for six years for alleged anti-party activities. The action comes ahead of the 2027 Uttarakhand Assembly elections and is significant as Negi was preparing to contest from the Raipur Assembly constituency.
The party has also cancelled Negi’s primary membership along with his expulsion. UKD president Surendra Kukreti had earlier warned Negi and advised him to follow the party’s directions. The party took the latest action on August 27 after alleging that he did not follow the instructions.
In a social media post after his expulsion, Negi said that the BJP had paid the UKD to remove him from the party. However, he did not provide any evidence to support the allegation.
The development comes about two months after the UKD removed Negi from the post of central vice-president. A letter issued by party central general secretary and central office in-charge Dev Chand Uttarakhandi said Negi had been relieved of his post and other responsibilities with immediate effect.
His expulsion could affect the party’s preparations for the upcoming Assembly elections, particularly in Raipur, where he was reportedly planning to contest. The move also highlights internal differences within the regional party ahead of the 2027 polls.
