U’khand Congress deliberates in Doon on Udaipur declaration

The leadership of Uttarakhand Congress started deliberations on ways of implementation of Udaipur declaration in the state on Wednesday. The declaration was adopted after three days of brainstorming in ‘Nav Chintan Shivir’ by Congress leaders in Udaipur, Rajasthan recently.
On the first day of the two-day workshop, the Congress State in-charge Devendra Yadav, former chief minister Harish Rawat, Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara, Leader of Opposition Yashpal Arya and others participated in discussions on Wednesday.
The media in charge of Uttarakhand Congress, Rajiv Mehrishi said that in the workshop all the Congressmen expressed their strong opposition to communal forces and their attempts to divide the society. He said that the Congress leaders opined that these powers are pushing the country on the divisive path and said that though the Congress party has lost the elections its workers are not discouraged. The leaders in the workshop said that the vote percentage of Congress party has increased by three per cent in the recent assembly elections when compared with last Vidhan and Lok Sabha elections. It shows that the popularity of the Congress party has increased. Mehrishi said that the Congress leaders took a commitment to work for strengthening of the party and decided that the reorganisation of the party would be done from the level of Nyay Panchayat level. It was decided that dedicated workers should be promoted within the party.
The Congress media in-charge further added that district level workshops would be held in all the districts between 11 to 14 June. He informed that a 75 km long Foot March would be organised in the state as part of the country wide programme of party on August 9. The Yatra would culminate in the state office of the party on August 15. Mehrishi added that all the office bearers of Uttarakhand Congress would participate in the ‘ Bharat Jodo Yatra’ organised by All India Congress Committee (AICC) on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti on October 2.
Rajya Sabha MP Pradeep Tamta, former speaker Govind Singh Kunjwal, former Ministers Hira Singh Bisht, Dinesh Agarwal, Navprabhat, MLAs Madan Bisht, Vikram Singh Negi, Adesh Chauhan, Gopal Rana, Virendra Jati, Ravi Bahadur, Anupma Rawat, Sumit Hridayesh, former MLAs Monoj Rawat, Shailendra Rawat, Sanjiv Arya, Vijay Pal Sajwan and others took part in the workshop.
