U’khand govt committed to development of universities: Dhami

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that the State government is committed to the development of the universities. He was addressing a programme organised by the Students union of HNB Garhwal Central University on Friday. He said that Uttarakhand is the first state in the country to implement the Uniform Civil Code which is a matter of pride for all the people of the State.
The CM said that in the last three and a half years, jobs have been provided to more than 22,000 youth in different departments of government. Dhami said that the unemployment rate of the state has come down by 4.4 per cent. The CM termed the decision of his government to implement the anti-cpoying law as historic and said that this will give hardworking and talented students their rights. He added that the government is currently working on important projects like model colleges, women hostels, IT Lab, Astro Park and Science City.
The cabinet minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that the State government is giving top priority to education. He called upon the University administration and students to work together towards improving the quality of education. Rawat said that the government is ready to provide all possible assistance to the students and is constantly making efforts to make the institutions of higher education world class.
Devprayag MLA, Vinod Kandari said that the students should play an active role in social and national development along with education.
The vice chancellor Manmohan Singh Rauthan, district magistrate Ashish Chauhan, SSP Lokeshwar Singh and others attended the programme.
