U’khand HC Justice steps down

Justice Alok Kumar Verma tendered his resignation from the office of judge of the Uttarakhand High Court, according to an official notification issued by the Government of India.

It is further learnt that the resignation was submitted under proviso (a) to clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, which allows a High Court judge to resign from office by writing to the President.

Notably, the announcement was made official via a notification issued by the Union Ministry of Law and Justice on May 27. As per the official communique, the resignation has been accepted with retrospective effect starting from April 30.
