U’khand to start Yoga classes in all health & wellness centres

In an effort to promote physical fitness in the people, the Uttarakhand government has decided to hold Yoga classes in all the Health and Wellness centres of the state. These classes would be held for ten days in a month and Yoga instructors would be deployed in these classes. The Health and Education minister Dhan Singh Rawat made these declarations while addressing a programme organised to commemorate the fourth anniversary of Ayushman Bharat Health and wellness centres here on Sunday. He said that the Yoga instructors deployed in these centres would be given remuneration of Rs 250 per hour.
He said that a total of 1,464 health and wellness centres are operating in different parts of the state which include 1,031 sub centres, 38 urban primary health centres and 395 primary health centres. The minister said that after being upgraded to Health and Wellness centres from the sub centres, trained Mid Level Health Providers (MLHP) have been appointed in these centres. The screening of uterus, mammary and oral cancer is being done in these centres apart from tests of high blood pressure, diabetes and other non communicable diseases. He added that awareness is being provided about Yoga, physical exercises, nutrition and healthy food in these health and wellness centres. He said that strengthening health services is a major priority of the state government. Rawat said that the health department would organise Health Fairs in all the 95 block headquarters from April 18 to 22. These fairs are being organised to commemorate the fourth anniversary of the Ayushman Bharat Scheme. Similarly the one day health fairs would also be organised in all the seven municipal corporations and 11 municipal councils of the state. Rawat said digital health ID of every citizen would be made in these fairs. These IDs would have details of non communicable diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, oral cancer and others after the screening of the individuals.
The chief medical officer (CMO) of Dehradun, Dr Manoj Upreti and others were present on the occasion.
