The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) will set up an electric crematorium in Mothrowala to end the traditional burial process for disposing of dead animals.
The Dehradun municipal commissioner Namami Bansal conducted an inspection of the site on Tuesday to move the plan forward. She informed that the facility will handle animal disposal in a controlled and environmentally compatible manner. It will be quite convenient for locals as well, she added.
Bansal also informed that the corporation is also taking steps for construction and demolition (C&D) waste management. She along with others inspected a site in the Arcadia area to manage C&D waste scientifically and further action will be taken as per the plan. This effort aims to reduce illegal dumping and maintain environmental balance in the city throughout the year, she said.
These steps by the corporation focus on organised waste management and public health in Dehradun, Bansal added.
