The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara said on Tuesday that the Uttarakhand Public Service Commission (UKPSC) should not be allowed to conduct recruitment examinations till the investigation in the paper leak cases is completed. Interacting with mediapersons at the headquarters of the Uttarakhand Congress on Tuesday he said that two out of three section officers deployed in the ultra secrecy department of the commission have been arrested in the paper leak cases of the Patwari and the JE/ AE examinations and in such a situation there is a question mark over other examinations being conducted by the commission. The PCC president said that after the paper leak case in the examinations conducted by the Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UKSSSC), the State government entrusted the task of Patwari and other examinations to the UKPSC but here also the papers were leaked by the officials of the commission. He said that Hakam Singh and other accused in the UKSSSC scam have secured bail which shows that the investigation agency made a weak case against them. “This is exactly the reason why we were demanding that the CBI inquiry monitored by a sitting judge of the High Court should be ordered in the case. The involvement of Hakam Singh in the UKSSSC scam and former block president of BJP Sanjay Dhariwal and Nitin Chauhan in the UKPSC paper leak cases proves the apprehension of Congress that BJP leaders are involved in the case,’’ he said.
The PCC president said that the investigation agency has claimed that Congress leaders were also involved in the case but even after two days it has not named them. He said that everyone who is involved in the scam should be put behind bars. Mahara raised the apprehension that in order to serve the BJP government, the officials can falsely implicate the workers of Congress party in the paper leak case.
The PCC president also attacked the BJP government for rampant illegal mining going on in the State. He claimed that 2,000 vehicles are involved in illegal mining in Haldwani and Ramnagar area and heavy machinery is being used in illegal mining in open violation of the norms. Mahara said that apart from loss of revenue the illegal mining is also damaging the environment. The PCC president sarcastically remarked that there is a handsome amount of corruption in Uttarakhand under Pushkar Singh Dhami who has recently been declared most handsome CM of the country in a survey. He said that the head of the mining department allotted a crusher to one of his close relatives. Mahara alleged that NGT has recently pulled up the department for converting the status of Dehradun valley from red to orange category without the approval of the central pollution control board. In response to a question, the PCC president said that the State government is forced to hold budget session in Gairsain under pressure of Congress party and demanded that one day should be allotted for discussion for every department in the budget session and hoped that the session would be held on Mondays as well when the questions related to the departments headed by CM are taken up.
The vice president (organisation) Mathura Dutt Joshi, spokesperson Garima Dasauni and other leaders were present on the occasion.
