In latest news from Doon, the State government has made it clear that the elections for 99 urban local bodies (ULB) would be held in mid-September after the monsoon session ends. Those privy to the matter said that holding ULB elections amidst the monsoon rain is not feasible with many roads remaining blocked. They further informed that the administration is now gearing up to complete the reservation –related works for the ULB polls during the remainder of the monsoon. Notably, the Nainital High Court has directed the State government to submit the ULB election timeline this month and the State government is all set to apprise the HC of its intention of commencing the election process around September 15.
