Unemployed nursing graduates’ protest expands to Haldwani

The 200-day-long agitation by unemployed nursing graduates in Uttarakhand entered a new phase on Monday with the launch of a parallel protest at Tikonia Park in Haldwani by the Nursing Ekta Manch (NEM).
Hundreds of unemployed nursing aspirants from the Kumaon division participated in the demonstration, extending the ongoing movement beyond Dehradun. Protesters reiterated their demand for the expeditious recruitment of nursing personnel in government healthcare institutions.
According to NEM representatives, the expansion of the agitation reflects growing frustration among nursing graduates over the prolonged delay in recruitment and the government’s failure to address their concerns despite repeated appeals.
The protesters said that qualified nursing candidates have been awaiting recruitment opportunities for years and urged the State government to initiate the recruitment process at the earliest. They also warned of intensifying their agitation if concrete steps are not taken to resolve the issue.
