Unidentified man’s body found hanging from tree in Doon’s forest

The body of an unidentified man was found hanging from a tree in a forest area of Kuwanwala in Dehradun on Sunday. The body was discovered near a Forest department outpost, after which local people informed the police. A team from Harrawala police outpost reached the spot and took the body into custody.
According to Harrawala outpost in-charge Vijay Thapliyal, the police received information at around 10:45 AM that a body was hanging from a tree in the forest near the Forest department outpost in Kuwanwala. The police team soon reached the spot and inspected the scene. On reaching the spot, it was found that the deceased appeared to have hung himself using a white cloth tied to a tree branch. The police then brought the body down and began further legal proceedings.
The outpost in-charge further said that the identity of the deceased has not yet been established. Police have informed nearby police stations and shared the description of the deceased in various WhatsApp groups to help in identification. Necessary legal formalities were completed at the spot, and a panchnama was prepared. Police are also investigating whether the deceased was a local resident or from another area. Police said that based on the condition of the body, it appears that the death occurred four to five days ago. Due to it being in the forest for several days, the body had decomposed significantly. Police have started further investigation and are also checking missing person reports from nearby areas. Officials said that all angles are being examined to ensure a proper investigation.
