Union minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Narayan Rane inaugurated a mushroom cultivation project in Kotdwar on Thursday. Speaking on the occasion, he said that people of Uttarakhand can earn well through the cultivation of various produce. He exhorted the people to become involved in the mushroom cultivation project to also enable preparation of various products and good prices for the same.
He said that mushroom farming training will be provided to unemployed youth who are interested in its cultivation. Apart from its use for culinary purposes, mushroom also has uses for various medicinal purposes, he added. Referring to the natural beauty of Uttarakhand, the Union minister also stressed on the tourism potential in the State, adding that he will talk to the Union Tourism minister and chief minister regarding this. Noted mushroom cultivator and entrepreneur Divya Rawat said that 4,000 women of the district will be enable for employment/self-employment through this project. Different products will be made from mushroom and supplied to other States from here, she added.
