The managing director of Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL), AK Yadav has said that the corporation is geared up to provide uninterrupted and quality supply of electricity to the winter Char Dham Yatra places and the winter tourism spots in the State.
The MD has directed all the regional units to ensure the quality and reliability of power supply during the winters in the places of winter Char Dham Yatra and the major tourist spots like Mussoorie, Auli, Lansdowne, Joshimath, Dhanaulti, Rishikesh, Haridwar, Almora, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, Munsyari, Chakrata, Rajaji National Park, Tehri, Devprayag, Chamba and Harshil.
He said during the winter season, these important tourist areas of the state see a large influx of tourists, which boosts the tourism and increases local employment opportunities. In this context, it is UPCL’s responsibility to ensure that no tourist or consumer faces any inconvenience related to power supply, he said.
Yadav said that all the 33/11 kV substations, HT LT lines, 11 kV feeders and street lighting systems in the tourist spots are being monitored daily. He said that availability of essential materials including conductors, cables, poles and transformers has been ensured at all important locations, so that in case of power disruption, the supply can be restored in minimum time.
“All superintending engineers and executive engineers have been instructed to conduct intensive inspection of sub-stations and feeders located in their respective areas and keep the entire team in high alert mode. Instructions have been issued to complete the lopping and chopping of trees and branches near power lines in a timely manner, so that natural causes do not disrupt power supply. All trolley transformers have been tested for availability and working condition and are ready for any emergency,’’ he said.
