The Uttarakhand State Commission for Women (USCW) has decided to take proactive steps to curb the spread of objectionable and abusive content against women of the State on social media. \
The move comes in the wake of a recent Facebook post by a user allegedly making derogatory remarks against BJP women leaders.
The controversy erupted after offensive comments were allegedly posted targeting members of the BJP Mahila Morcha and other party leaders, following the Dehradun visit of the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
Taking suo motu cognisance of the matter, USCW chairperson, Kusum Kandwal said she has written to the senior superintendent of police, Dehradun, seeking strict action against the person responsible. Following the registration of an FIR and arrest of the accused, the commission has also requested an updated action taken report from the senior superintendent of police, Dehradun.
