The State PWD minister and Chaubattakhal MLA Satpal Maharaj directed the officials concerned to step in immediately to have the rain-damaged Pabo-Jhangbo-Gadhigaon-Pinani road repaired. Earlier, he had spoken to the Pauri district magistrate on the matter.
Soon after the order had been received, JCB machines were sent to the damaged stretches and the repairing work was started. The minister said that it was not possible for him to visit the area due to his preoccupation with the rural polls. “Now I will go and take stock of things,” he added.
“As per reports received on Monday,
a total of 96 roads, including two national highways, 20 state highways, nine main district roads, six district roads and 58 rural roads, are blocked across the State and work is going on on a war footing to open them at the earliest. As many as 514 machines have been deployed while the executive engineers in all the affected areas have been instructed to have the blockages cleared on priority,” Maharaj added.
