Uttarakhand police tightened security in the interstate districts and vulnerable areas across the State after gangster turned politician Mukhtar Ansari died of cardiac arrest late on Thursday. However, his family has alleged that Ansari was poisoned. Considering that Ansari’s death can trigger a section of society which can probably disturb law and order, the respective police in-charges have been directed to increase vigilance, the additional director general of police (Law and Order) AP Anshuman said.
He said that the State is already in alert mode regarding the ensuing Lok Sabha elections. The police and paramilitary forces are already deployed in interstate and border areas to prevent the occurrence of illegal activities. “Though all high- level security measures are being taken across the State, we have directed all in-charges to ensure proper vigilance to prevent any kind of activities that can disturb communal harmony, law and order, and safety,” the ADG added.
