Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid glowing tributes to BR Ambedkar on his birth anniversary by garlanding his picture on the stage. Highlighting Ambedkar’s lifelong commitment to social justice, he said that the government’s policies over the past decade have sought to uphold constitutional values, from the abrogation of Article 370 to the elimination of Maoism and Naxalism in dozens of districts. He praised Uttarakhand for becoming the first State in the country to implement the Uniform Civil Code. The State has set an example by implementing the UCC.
