PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun
The budget session of Uttarakhand Vidhan Sabha will be held in Bharadisain in Gairsain of Chamoli district. Though no decision on the dates has been taken yet, it is likely that the session will be held in the first week of March. Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami confirmed that the budget session of Vidhan Sabha will be held in Bharadisain. He said that last year too, the budget session was proposed at Gairsain but due to the maintenance works in Bharadisain Vidhan Sabha building, the session was held in Dehradun.
The CM said that this year all the preparations for the session in Bharadisain are done. The Vidhan Sabha speaker Ritu Khanduri said that the Vidhan Sabha secretariat is ready to host the session in Bharadisain. It is expected that the Dhami government will table a budget of about Rs 1.15 Lakh crore during the session. The State government had tabled a budget of Rs one lakh crore last year.
It is likely that the duration of the budget session in Bharadisain this year will be seven to eight days. It is pertinent to mention here that the CM Dhami in 2024 had expressed his desire that a long budget session in Bharadisain should be held. In 2025, the budget session was not organised in Bharadisain due to maintenance works in the building.
The Dhami government will also be keen to organise a long session in Bharadisain as this will be its last budget of this tenure. A long session in Bharadisain will also help in countering the charge of opposition that the sessions in Bharadisain are always held short, as the government is not interested in holding sessions there.
