By announcing the results of class X and XII on May 30, the Uttarakhand Vidhyalayi Shiksha Parishad (UVSP) has taken a lead over the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) in announcing the board results. Incidentally it was for the first time since the creation of the State that the results of the UVSP popularly called as Uttarakhand board were declared ahead of CBSE and other boards. The results of class X and XII used to be declared in the month of June by the UVSP.
This year the education minister Dhan Singh Rawat had directed the education department and Uttarakhand board to ensure that the result of class X and XII examination are declared on April 30. Acting on the orders of the minister, the UVSP acted in sync with the secondary education department of the State to conduct the examination on time. The process of evaluation of the answer sheets was also completed on time despite the ongoing process of Lok Sabha elections.
Education minister Rawat told The Pioneer that delay in announcement of results used to affect the students and many a times they failed to take admissions in the institutes of higher education such as IITs and Delhi University. In view of this, the education department and board were directed to announce results on April 30. “I am happy that the timeline was followed in the declaration of result. From next year the board result will be announced on April 20. Uttarakhand will become the first State in the country where classes will be held for 240 days and results declared on April 20. This will help our students to take admission in higher education institutes of other states,’’ he said.
