Energy & determination of youth to set direction of India’s development: CM

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that the energy, determination and innovative thinking of the youth determine the direction of India’s development. He was addressing a programme organised by the students’ union at DAV -PG College here on Saturday. Describing the youth as the main force behind nation-building, the CM said that the youth are both the future and present of the country.
He described student politics as an important medium for developing leadership, organisational skills and social responsibility. Commending the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, the CM said that it is inculcating the spirit of national service, character building and social consciousness among youth. He added that the ABVP workers are making significant contributions to the national interest, from educational institutions to the nation’s borders. Citing the ideals of the great social reformer Swami Dayanand Saraswati, the CM said that the purpose of education is not merely to obtain a degree, but also to cultivate character and build the nation. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, several youth-centric schemes are being implemented in the country. The CM listed initiatives like Make in India, Digital India, Start-up India and Skill India as such schemes which have played a vital role in empowering youth. He said that the State government is committed to making Uttarakhand a leader in the field of education and innovation. Dhami said that under the new education policy, modern courses like Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning are being encouraged in higher educational institutions. Additionally, scientific research is being promoted through projects like Science City and Astro Park.
Dhami averred that the State is strengthening the infrastructure for higher education. Nine new colleges are being established, 20 model colleges are being constructed, and women’s hostels, IT labs and examination halls are being built.
The CM said that strict anti-copying laws have been implemented in the State to protect the interests of the youth which has yielded positive results. He said that over 30,000 youth have obtained government jobs in the last four years.
On this occasion, the CM also announced the construction of two additional floors on the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Smriti Academic Block of DAV -PG College.
Cabinet ministers Khajan Dass and Ram Singh Kaida, MLA Umesh Kumar, principal Kaushal Kumar and others were present on the occasion.
