Vehicle timings to be enforced for Char Dham Yatra route

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun
Acting on the directions of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the Transport department has mandated strict enforcement of timings for vehicles on Char Dham Yatra routes. This order was issued on Tuesday by the nodal officer of the Char Dham Yatra and the regional transport officer (Administration), Dehradun, Sandeep Saini, to all assistant regional transport officers (Enforcement) of Dehradun and Pauri divisions.
Saini stated that the CM chaired a meeting on Tuesday to discuss arrangements for the Char Dham Yatra. In this meeting, instructions were given to ensure strict adherence to the time limit of 4 AM to 10PM for the safe operation of passenger vehicles on the Char Dham Yatra routes. This decision was made with consideration for traffic management and road safety during the Yatra period. It was noted that medium and heavy goods vehicles have been operating on these travel routes during the daytime, resulting in traffic congestion. To address this issue, instructions have been issued to restrict the operation of medium and heavy vehicles during the day time.
He further added that along with passenger vehicles on the Yatra routes, public transport services also operate in the area, which increases the scope for traffic congestion due to excessive vehicular pressure on these routes. To ensure the safe, systematic and uninterrupted operation of passenger vehicles for the Char Dham Yatra, all Assistant Regional Transport Officers (Enforcement) have been directed to strictly enforce these orders by coordinating with the police, administration and other relevant departments in their respective areas. They must impose an effective ban on the operation of passenger vehicles from 10 PM to 4 AM and on medium and heavy vehicles from 4 AM to 10PM on the Yatra routes, he said.
He emphasised that strict compliance with these orders is essential. Enforcement actions will be taken against any vehicles found violating these regulations.
