Very heavy rain likely in 3 districts, heavy rain in 5 districts

Even as various parts of the State witnessed moderate to very heavy rain on Monday, the State Meteorological Centre has issued a red warning (take action) regarding the possibility of heavy to very heavy rain likely to occur at isolated places in Haridwar, Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar districts on Tuesday.

An orange warning (be prepared to take action) has also been issued regarding the possibility of heavy rain likely to occur at isolated places in Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Champawat and Bageshwar districts. In addition to this, a yellow warning (be aware) has been issued regarding the possibility of heavy rain likely to occur at isolated places in the remaining districts of the State. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning/intense to very intense spells of rain are also likely to occur at isolated places in all districts of the State today. Apart from this, light to moderate rain/thundershowers are likely to occur at most places in all districts of the State.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a generally cloudy sky. Few spells of light to moderate rain/thundershowers are likely to occur, which may be intense/heavy in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 28 degrees Celsius and 23 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.

Meanwhile, very heavy rain was recorded in parts of Dehradun on Monday with 184 millimetres in Sahastradhara, 181.5 millimetres in Maldevta and 163 millimetres in Hathibadkala. Heavy to moderate rain was reported in other areas with 71.5 millimetres in Dhanaulti, 59 millimetres in Chamba, 43 millimetres in Kalsi, 28 millimetres in Narendranagar, 21 millimetres each in Bageshwar and Yamkeshwar and 20 millimetres in Pauri. The rainfall disrupted routine life in various parts of the State on Monday with similar conditions expected today.
