Vidyut Pensioners Parishad urges action on pending pension issues in Uttarakhand

The members of Vidyut Pensioners Parishad of Uttarakhand appealed to UJVNL, PTCUL and UPCL to take steps at both the corporation and government levels to resolve pension-related issues of the retired employees which are pending for years. The ninth Maha-Adhiveshan of the Parishad was held here on Sunday. The event was attended by managing director of UJVN Limited (UJVNL) Sandeep Singhal as the chief guest along with other guests including director (Operations) of Power Transmission Corporation of Uttarakhand Limited (PTCUL) GS Budiyal and director (Finance) of Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) Kamal Sharma. Addressing the gathering, the president of Vidyut Pensioners Parishad RP Thapliyal urged the management of the three bodies to take steps at both the corporation and government levels to resolve pension-related issues. The general secretary of the Parishad GS Jain presented a memorandum to the officials that highlighted the concerns of pensioners and requested the authorities to address them. Singhal addressed the retired employees from remote areas of the State and acknowledged their contributions to the power sector. He emphasised that the vast experience of retired employees continues to benefit the three corporations both directly and indirectly. He highlighted Uttarakhand’s ongoing efforts to establish itself as a leading energy-producing State, focusing not only on hydropower but also on alternative energy sources. He mentioned that significant progress is being made in areas such as green energy, battery energy storage systems and geothermal energy. Singhal assured the pensioners that their concerns were being addressed on a priority basis at the corporation level and will continue to be resolved promptly in the future. Budiyal also spoke about the corporation’s consistent efforts in power generation and transmission, highlighting the completion of several projects in recent years.
