Woman injured in leopard attack

A woman was injured by a leopard at Bhelunta in Pratapnagar area, of Tehri district in broad daylight on Monday. Sources informed that Manju Devi (32) was taken to the nearest community health centre from where she was referred to a higher centre after primary treatment.
She had gone to collect grass in the woods when a leopard attacked her at about 2 PM. The other women who had gone with her to collect fodder somehow saved the woman from the leopard by making noise and informed the family members. The family brought the woman to Chaund CHC in their private vehicle where the doctors referred her to a higher centre after first aid. Dr Harsh Verma said that the woman’s head, mouth and other parts of the body were damaged by the leopard’s claws. Considering her critical condition, she has been referred to New Tehri.
As soon as the Forest Department received the information, forest ranger Harshram Uniyal reached the spot with his team. He said that immediate help has been provided for the treatment of the woman. A patrolling team has also been deployed in the village. He also visited the village and appealed to the villagers to avoid going outdoors alone and to be cautious of the leopard.
