The construction company is anticipated to hand over the blood bank building to the administration of the Deen Dayal Upadhyay District Hospital in the first week of January 2026, said principal medical superintendent Dr Manu Jain.
He said that the construction of the blood bank at the hospital has been ongoing for several months. The work is nearing completion and it is expected to be handed over by the first week of January. Jain said that they have already approached the Director General of Health to procure the essential equipment for the blood bank. It is anticipated that the procurement of equipment demands will be resolved soon. Jain also said that, in addition to this, they have submitted a demand to the DG Health for human resources, including the staff who will be recruited for the blood bank services. The district hospital currently has a limited number of staff available for the blood bank, but for the rest staff members for the said bank, they have demanded additional support from the DG of Health. He said that there is ongoing oversight of the blood bank’s construction to guarantee its timely completion.
Notably, following the directives of the district magistrate, the hospital administration prepared and submitted a proposal for the establishment of a blood bank to the State administration, which was subsequently approved. Thereafter, the construction work of the blood bank commenced. However, the project’s progress was temporarily halted for several days recently due to the heavy and frequent rainfall experienced during this year’s monsoon season, creating significant challenges for the construction workers.
Additionally, Jain previously stated that the operational blood bank at the hospital will resolve several issues, including ensuring timely access to blood for major surgeries, emergencies and childbirth. He also informed that the blood bank is being constructed over two floors.
