The State Sports minister, Rekha Arya, instructed the officials concerned to include a Yogasana performance for a few minutes during the closing ceremony of the 38th National Games. This directive was given at a meeting convened on Wednesday to discuss the preparations for the closing ceremony.

While chairing the meeting, Arya said that Yogasana as a traditional sport would be included as an event in the Asian Games. “This is a matter of pride not only for Uttarakhand but for the nation. Therefore, it is in the fit of things that a special demonstration of Yogasana should feature in the closing ceremony of the National Games being held in Uttarakhand,” she said.

She further directed the officials to ensure the participation of all the medal winners from the State in the closing ceremony.

“We have left no stone unturned to make this National Games a success in every sphere and as it is drawing to a close, we can say with justified pride that we have accomplished our mission.  However, more satisfying is the sterling performance of the participants from Uttrakhand. They have significantly pushed up the State’s ranking in the overall medal tally,” she said.

Additionally, a special presentation will be held at the closing ceremony, showcasing a comprehensive overview of the games from the beginning until now, including the achievements of the players from the State. The players who have broken national records during the National Games would also be honoured, she said.

The minister further stated that a full and final dress rehearsal of the programme would be conducted a day before the closure.  She instructed the officials to immediately rectify the flaws to be identified during the rehearsal.
