Harela-the folk festival signifying love for nature- was celebrated with enthusiasm and gaiety at Parwati Prema Jagati Saraswati Vihar Senior Secondary School in Durgapur, Nainital.
While the school’s principal Surya Prakash inaugurated the celebration a Sanskrit teacher Bhuvan threw light on the historical and cultural background of Harela and explained its traditional method of celebration to the students. Prakash, in his address, said that Harela which means revering and worshipping nature should no longer be confined within Uttarakhand. “Its message is universal,” he stressed.
