The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) has cancelled a death certificate allegedly obtained by submitting false and misleading information.
The civic body officials said that the certificate had been issued by the birth and death registration office of the Municipal Corporation but discrepancies came to light after documents and an investigation report submitted by HDFC Life Insurance Private Limited were examined. The applicant, Sunita Devi, wife of Rajendra Prasad and a resident of Dhalan Gram Panchayat in Bhatwari tehsil of Uttarkashi district, had allegedly mentioned incorrect details regarding the place of death.
As per the investigation, the death had occurred at Himalayan Hospital, Dehradun, whereas the documents submitted to the Municipal Corporation stated the place of death as House No 12, Kurkawala, Dehradun.
