Young rider dies after being hit by dumper

An 18-year-old youth died after a dumper allegedly hit his scooter near Chhidderwala in Raiwala area on Sunday morning. The dumper driver fled from the spot after the accident, police said.
The accident took place at around 9 AM. The Raiwala police received information about the accident through the emergency helpline 112. A police team reached the spot and found the scooter rider, Aniket Gusain, son of Deepak Gusain and a resident of Kotdwar, seriously injured. Police said that the youth had died at the spot.
His body was sent to All India Institutes of Medical Science (AIIMS) Rishikesh in an ambulance. His family members were present at the hospital, police said.
According to police, the accident occurred around 50 metres ahead of Chhidderwala Chowk towards Dehradun. Police said that the dumper driver fled towards Lal Tappar after the accident. He later abandoned the vehicle at Lal Tappar and escaped.
Police brought both the dumper and scooter to the police station for further investigation. The inquest proceedings of the deceased were also initiated.
On the complaint of Aniket’s family, police registered a case against the dumper driver under Sections 106(1) and 281 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police are now trying to trace and arrest the driver.
