A young man attempted to murder a medical store operator in broad daylight on Sunday in Badripur village under the Sahaspur police station area in Dehradun, police officials said. The accused stabbed the victim several times and fled from the spot after carrying out the attack.
According to police, the incident happened around 9:30 AM. The injured man, identified as Mahendra, was attacked near his neck by another villager named Kartik. Locals reached the spot and admitted the injured medical store operator to Vivekanand Hospital for treatment. Doctors said that although Mahendra suffered serious injuries, his condition is currently stable and not critical.
Police said that the accused and his family are originally from Muzaffarnagar district in Uttar Pradesh and have been living in the area for the past 10 to 15 years. Police sealed the area and collected forensic evidence from the crime scene.
Sahaspur police station in-charge Pradeep Singh Rawat said that villagers informed police that the accused had been involved in assault cases in the past too. The accused’s father has claimed that Kartik is mentally unstable. Police said his mental condition will also be investigated during the probe.
