Nainital district Panchayat president, Deepa Darmwal and vice-president, Devaki Bisht were administered the oath of office and secrecy by the sub-divisional magistrate, Shailendra Singh Negi and thereafter, the members of the District Panchayat were administered the oath of office and secrecy by newly elected president. State BJP general secretary, Rajendra Bisht; BJP district president, Pratap Bisht and MLA Sarita Arya.
Among the Zila Panchayat members who did not take oath was Congress’s Pushpa Negi.
Darmwal later said that rural development would be her priority. She sought cooperation of all to ensure speedy and smooth development of Nainital.
