The Mussoorie-Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) sealed eight illegal multi –storey buildings on Wednesday in different areas of Rishikesh. Police force was present during the operation to maintain law and order.
The MDDA officials said that these buildings were being constructed without approved maps and against building rules. Notices had already been sent to the owners, but no satisfactory reply was received. “After this, MDDA took strict action and sealed these buildings,” said an official.
Explaining the operation, the MDDA vice- chairman, Banshidhar Tiwari said that illegal construction will not be tolerated in any area under their jurisdiction. “Such buildings create safety, traffic and planning problems in the future,” he added.
