CM hands over appointment letters to 63 sanitation inspectors

 Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami handed over appointment letters to 63 sanitation inspectors and virtually laid the foundation stone of the new building of Urban Development directorate in a programme organised at his residence on Monday.

Addressing the programme, the CM said that in the last four years, government jobs were provided to about 30,000 youngsters in the State.  Congratulating the newly appointed sanitary inspectors, the CM said their appointment will play a vital role in strengthening the efficiency of the municipal bodies. He said that there were 63 municipal bodies in the State at the time of its creation but now there are a total of 108 local municipal bodies which include 11 municipal corporations, 46 municipal councils and 51 Nagar Panchayats. He said that the State government is striving to make the cities clean, well-organized and modern.  Terming local bodies as pillars of development, the CM said that the administrative and technical capacity of municipal bodies in the State is being continuously strengthened. 

Dhami said that the Kumbh Mela will be held in 2027 and the Chardham Yatra will commence from next month and during these times the role of Municipal bodies in maintaining cleanliness of cities and pilgrimage sites is important.  He said that the State government is taking several important steps to modernize and make cities safe.

“While the Swachchh Bharat Abhiyan in strengthening solid waste management and sanitation in cities, efforts are also being made to provide better facilities to citizens through schemes such as the Smart City mission, Pradhan Mantri Swanidhi Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Amrit mission, open defecation free campaign and legacy waste management,’’ he said.  Dhami added that urban health and wellness centres have been established to provide accessible healthcare services in urban areas. He said that the Aashray Yojana is being implemented for the destitute cattle.  The CM said that an integrated command and control centre has been established to monitor garbage vehicles.

 MLAs Khajan Dass, Banshidhar Bhagat, Umesh Sharma Kau, Savita Kapoor, secretary Urban Development Nitesh Jha and others attended the programme.
