The Raipur police arrested a 35-year-old man with 608 banned narcotic capsules during a checking drive near Maharana Pratap Chowk in Raipur. The accused has been identified as Raju Shah, a resident of Bihar Colony on Haridwar Road. Police said that the capsules had been brought from Saharanpur and were meant to be sold to students, drug addicts and other local buyers for illegal profit. Notably, the arrest was made on Sunday as part of Operation Prahar, a special campaign launched by Dehradun police against drug trafficking.

A case has been registered against the accused under the NDPS Act. During questioning, he is said to have admitted that he had purchased the capsules from Saharanpur and wanted to sell them to Dehradun’s college students.

Police said that such actions would continue in the future to make Uttarakhand a drug-free state.
