The Food Safety and Drug Administration (FDA) checked milk vans and dairy outlets across the city early in the morning on Thursday. Their early morning operation focused on paneer suspected to be adulterated or of poor quality. Teams inspected supplies coming from other districts and states and collected seven paneer samples from Nehru Gram, Raipur, Bhaniyawala and Ranipokhari for laboratory testing.
The FDA collected seven paneer samples for testing during inspections in Dehradun district. The FSDA officials said the inspections began at around 4 AM in Nehru Gram and Raipur areas. Officials checked vehicles bringing milk products from outside the district and also inspected dairy outlets. During the inspection, a milk van was found distributing packed low-fat paneer manufactured and supplied by Sardhana Milk Federation in Meerut.
Officials also collected a sample of paneer manufactured by Singla Milk Chilling in Patiala, Punjab, from a dairy in Raipur. Four paneer samples were collected during the checks and sent for laboratory testing.
In another inspection, officials checked Mittal Dairy in Bhaniyawala and collected a sample of Ganj brand paneer. The product was being supplied from Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh. Two more samples of packed paneer were collected from a dairy in Ranipokhari.
Assistant commissioner food safety Dehradun Manish Sayana said all seven samples would be tested. He said further action would be taken according to the law after the test reports are received.
