Carry out police verification of the personnel working in child and women shelter homes: DM

The Dehradun district magistrate Sonika directed the officials concerned to conduct police verification of the personnel working in various shelter homes including children and women shelter homes established across the district to ensure they are living in a safe place. The DM held a meeting with the district child welfare and protection committee, other departments concerned, and representatives of Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) on Monday.
The committee members and officials discussed the amended rules under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2015 besides the responsibilities of departments concerned towards the welfare of children, orphans, abandoned women and children, and children engaged in begging and rag picking among others. She also instructed the officials to provide skill development training to children aged 14 years and above living in these children’s homes as per their interests and provide a list of the same to the district administration.
