179 cases involving Rs 102 crore solved at DRT National Lok Adalat

The National Lok Adalat was held at Debts Recovery Tribunal here under the chairmanship of presiding officer Umesh Kumar Sharma along with secretary/registrar Yogesh Kumar and recovery officer RP Singh on Saturday. A total of 179 cases were settled and disposed of involving public money of approximately Rs 102.15 crore. The presiding officer asked the bankers and borrowers to come forward for such amicable settlements in the future also. Punjab National Bank actively participated and disposed of their more than 70 cases during this Lok Adalat.
The DRT registrar Yogesh Kumar informed that two very old cases filed in 1994 were also amicably settled during the National Lok Adalat. He further informed that this is third Lok Adalat under the chairmanship of the presiding officer Umesh Kumar Sharma. In the past, 56 cases involving an amount of Rs 130 crore were settled on May 14 and 76 cases involving an amount of Rs 105 crore were settled on August 13.
