A woman allegedly killed her husband with the help of her lover and his friend and later tried to pass off the crime as a road accident. Dehradun police on Thursday arrested both the accused- Indra Devi and Mukesh along with his friend Ashish who helped them in the murder. The police claimed that all the accused were arrested within 24 hours of registration of the case.

The Dehradun senior superintendent of police Daleep Singh Kunwar said in a Press conference here on Thursday that the police on Monday found the body of a man identified as 38-year-old Santram Singh in a 50 metre deep gorge on the Kalsi route. It appeared initially as if the man died due to his injuries caused after his motorbike fell into the gorge. His bike was also recovered 100 metres down the gorge in damaged condition. The SSP said that the family members were called to identify the body and they said that they suspect that Santram was murdered. They also informed the police about the alleged affair of the deceased’s wife with Mukesh.

The SSP said that the police immediately started the investigation and analysed about 100 CCTV cameras at the scene of the incident. The police also analysed the call detail reports of the victim’s mobile numbers besides collecting dump data of the area. He said that the police noticed a suspicious number in the call records which was registered in the name of Ashish from Herbertpur, Vikasnagar. “The police called him for questioning and he  confessed to murdering Santram along with Mukesh. He said that they hit the victim on his head with a hammer and dumped his body and motorbike near Sahiya Road in Kalsi to make his death look like an accident,” said the SSP. He said that according to Mukesh, he and the victim’s wife were having an affair for the last eight years and wanted to marry each other but it was not possible because of Santram so they decided to kill him. All the three accused will be presented in court soon. Kunwar also said that the police team did a commendable job in arresting all accused within 24 hours and announced a reward of Rs 10,000 for the team.
