The High Court Legal Services Committee will organise a National Lok Adalat at the High Court premises in Nainital on September 12 to settle pending cases through mutual agreement. The event will cover several types of cases, including compoundable criminal matters, cheque bounce cases, bank loan disputes, family matters and civil cases.
Officials said the process can save litigants both time and money aside from providing relief from repeated court hearings. Besides, court fees paid in cases settled through the Lok Adalat are refunded as per the rules.
The Lok Adalat will also include disputes related to electricity and water bills, labour and employment, land acquisition and compensation.
The High Court Legal Services Committee further informed that litigants and advocates who cannot attend the proceedings physically can also participate through virtual mode. A link for online participation is available on the High Court’s official website.
The committee has asked the interested litigants to get their cases listed before the bench concerned by September 11.
