An empathic victory in the Assembly elections of Karnataka prompted celebrations in Uttarakhand Congress. Anticipating victory in Karnataka, party workers and leaders started assembling in the State headquarters of the Congress from the morning. The crowd swelled in the office when it became clear in the afternoon that the party was coming back to power in the southern State with a comfortable majority. The party workers danced to the beats of drums, distributed sweets and burst crackers. Led by the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara, the Congress leaders and workers also went to the Hanuman temple at the Clock Tower to offer their prayers.
Mahara and other leaders also offered floral tributes on the picture of BR Ambedkar in the party office. Mahara said that the people of Karnataka have emphatically rejected the communal propaganda of BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said the BJP had thrown its full might to capture power in Karnataka but the people have given a fitting reply to PM Modi and have given indication of new political equations in the country. Mahara said that the people of the country are now fed up with the rhetoric of the BJP leaders and would now get swayed with their communal politics. He said that the Bharat Jodo Yatra of Rahul Gandhi laid the foundation for the victory in Karnataka. He congratulated Congress party president Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi for their efforts in ensuring victory.
The president of Mahanagar Congress Jaswinder Gogi said that conspiracies are being hatched daily to divide the people of the country on communal lines. The vice presidents Mathura Dutt Joshi, Surya Kant Dhasmana, former minister Hira Singh Bisht, MLA Furkan Ahmed, Garima Dasauni, Darshan Lal and others were present on the occasion.
